Subcontractor management and bid requests for construction

Your subcontractors entered once, bids compared like for like, and the awarded bid becoming an estimate line with your margin — then a subcontractor on the project when the client signs.

The Subcontractors tab of each project (contract, invoices, holdback, compliance, releases, T5018) is in every plan; the Subcontractors page and bid requests start with the Business plan.

What the module does

  • A directory: one record per company (RBQ, business number, CNESST certificate, insurance, contact details), reused by every project; a company typed again is recognized, duplicates can be merged.
  • Bid requests: the work package, the scope, the due date, your budget and a scope checklist; a PDF to send, the same for everyone, that never names the others.
  • The side-by-side comparison: price before taxes, gap from the lowest and from the budget, client price with your margin, bid validity, documents on file — and a warning when the cheapest excludes what others include.
  • Transfer to the estimate: the awarded bid becomes a “Subcontractors” line, margin shown in % and in $; the client sees the package, never the subcontractor. If the bid changes, the gap is flagged.
  • When the signed estimate is converted, the awarded bid becomes a “planned” subcontractor on the project: contract, invoices received, holdback, releases and T5018 per company.
  • The subcontractor space: a personal link, with no account or password, where your subcontractor answers your bid requests, uploads their CNESST certificate, insurance and invoices, and signs their releases online. You review and decide everything.

What it doesn't do

The wording of releases signed online is an indicative template, not legal advice: have it reviewed by your advisor if needed.

BatiCore does not verify the CNESST certificate, the RBQ licence or the insurance: it shows what you have on file and warns you before it expires.

Who it’s for

Frequently asked questions

Do my subcontractors see each other’s prices?

No. The request PDF is the same for everyone and names no one; the bids stay in your account. Your client does not see the subcontractor either: the estimate line carries the package and its price.

How is the margin calculated?

It is a markup on cost: the “Subcontractors” margin from your settings (12 % by default, and your margin profiles), adjustable package by package. A 25,000 $ bid at 12 % gives 28,000 $ to the client; the screen shows the percentage and the 3,000 $, so there is no misunderstanding with your accountant.

Does BatiCore verify my subcontractors’ CNESST certificate?

No: it keeps the date of the certificate you obtained, shows it on every bid and every project, and warns you before it expires — when you can still demand it, before paying. Asking for it remains your step.
