CCQ calendar 2026: statutory holidays, construction holidays, vacation pay and the monthly report

Statutory days off (Remembrance Day is not November 11), winter holidays, vacation pay and the 2026 CCQ monthly report deadlines.

In construction, statutory holidays do not always fall on the calendar day. In 2026, Canada Day was observed on July 3, and Remembrance Day will be observed on Friday, November 13. Here are all the 2026 dates a construction employer needs to know, taken from the collective agreements and the CCQ's publications.

The 2026 statutory holidays

The dates are the same in all four sectors (residential, institutional and commercial, industrial, civil engineering and roadwork). The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30) is not among the construction industry's statutory days off.

The construction holidays

• Summer 2026: from Sunday, July 19, 12:01 a.m., to Saturday, August 1, midnight.
• Winter 2026-2027: from Sunday, December 20, 2026, 12:01 a.m., to Saturday, January 2, 2027, midnight.
• To plan 2027: summer 2027 runs from July 25 to August 7.

The dates are the same in all four sectors, and job sites close. Exceptions exist: maintenance and repair work, emergencies, remote areas, renovation with a site agreement, and a few trades whose period differs (refrigeration mechanic in service and maintenance, elevator mechanic, among others). The details are in the CCQ's reminder sheets, sector by sector.

Vacation pay (the 13%)

Every week, the employer credits each employee with 13% of the wages earned: 6% for holidays, 5.5% for statutory days off and 1.5% for sick leave (in civil engineering and roadwork, the sick-leave share is called "the excess"). The employer remits these amounts to the CCQ with the monthly report, and the CCQ pays them to the worker twice a year.

• The winter vacation pay is paid on November 25, 2026 — before the holidays, not in December. It covers the amounts from January to June 2026.
• The summer vacation pay was paid by the CCQ on June 19, 2026, for the amounts from July to December 2025.

The monthly report: 2026 deadlines

The monthly report and the payment of the amounts due must be sent no later than the 15th of the following month — even if no work was done. When late, the penalty is 7% of the amount due up to 7 days, 11% up to 14 days and 20% beyond, plus interest.

The periods follow the regulation's rule: 4 to 5 weeks, each ending on the last Saturday of the month. We calculated them from that rule and cross-checked them with the CCQ's 2026 calendar.

The rate increases

• April 26, 2026: 5.5% in light residential and 5% in the other sectors. The new rates, trade by trade, are in our post CCQ wages 2026.
• April 25, 2027: in institutional and commercial, industrial, and civil engineering and roadwork. For residential, the agreement sets the percentage of the 2027 increase, but not the exact day.
